Ian Douglas
CEO
With more than 20 years in leadership positions in the subsea cable industry, Ian has built a number of successful companies, delivering major projects and a range of successful corporate transactions. Ian joins XLCC from Global Marine Group, a leader in the subsea engineering sector, where he was CEO for over a decade. He is experienced in winning and delivering complex, high-value engineering projects across the submarine energy, telecom, and offshore oil and gas industries. In addition to Global Marine, his Board roles have included CWind, HMN Tech, S.B. Submarine Systems and N.T.T World Engineering Marine.
Alan Mathers
Project Director
Alan is qualified as a Management Accountant and also a Treasury Accountant. He has worked in professional services for 30 years including almost 20 years at Accenture where he was a Managing Director/Partner and then 8 years in Private Equity. Alan led a team of 1,700 people and has received multiple awards for inspirational leadership.
Alan has extensive international experience and has worked on subsea pipeline projects in Africa, Europe and in the UK. This has included building and operating a pipe coating factory at a greenfield site in Nigeria.
George Eleftheriadis
Cable Factory Director
Georgios has over 15 years of rich experience in the industry, specialising in EHV underground cables and HV submarine cable manufacturing. He holds a Lean/Six Sigma Black Belt with deep knowledge in Integrated Process Management (IPM). These skills were essential to Georgios’ role at Hellenic Cables, where he oversaw business transformation and ever-rising operational standards.
Georgios has a Master of Science in Advanced Manufacturing Systems & Management, as well as a Master of Business Administration.
Paul Dickson
Development Director
Paul brings over 34 years of experience in complex design, engineering and construction projects. His role at XLCC is to focus on building efficient manufacturing delivery linked to a digital strategy, combining construction and OEM equipment integration in a way not seen before in the manufacturing industry.
Paul joins XLCC from ISG where he spent over 12 years as a senior leader overseeing the delivery of multiple large-scale projects across data centres, life sciences and manufacturing sectors. Prior to this Paul directed mechanical, electrical and public health projects at Mace Major Projects Group.
Trevor Nash
Chief Commercial Officer
Trevor has extensive experience in building and restructuring businesses, in US, Europe, Asia and Middle East. He originally a qualified Civil Engineer, followed by 21 years in investment banking (corporate finance/M&A), with his last 14 years being in operational roles as CEO/COO.
He previously led teams for Goldman Sachs in Europe and in Asia and then ran Lazard’s Power & Energy Advisory practice in London, before leaving banking and joining the Clinton Climate Initiative.
For over a decade, he has been active in various roles in the development of clean energy projects and technologies. Trevor continues to be active in the commercialisation of emerging technologies that can meet the challenges of the energy transition.
Emma Burgess
HR Manager
Emma has over 10 years’ experience in the field of Human Resources, working with and supporting the southern operations team for McDonald’s Restaurants Ltd. A mental health first aid instructor, training over 300 senior leaders, Emma is passionate about employee relations, wellbeing, and company culture. She has experience leading teams across multiple sites and developing and leading a team of People Managers working on a multi-site basis, covering 9,500 employees.
Emma is highly driven and committed to the protection and growth of the business through the embedding and implementation of robust people systems. She has an honours degree in Education, Inclusion and Diversity from Nottingham Trent University and previously taught Literacy and ESOL at college level. She is currently studying towards the CIPD Level 7 Advanced Diploma in Strategic People Management.
Sim Hassall
CIO
Sim is an IT professional with over 15 years’ experience in building and leading teams in service management, project delivery, infrastructure, architecture, and software engineering. Recent experience includes leading enterprise finance and ERP programmes, bespoke systems development for business-to-business web applications and mobile and implementing Information Security Management Systems.
Sim is a postgraduate in Management from Henley Business School, a Prince 2 Practitioner and an ISO27001 lead implementer.
Mike Phillips
Head of Finance
Mike has 20 years accounting experience across a diverse range of businesses and industries, most recently working on a major national infrastructure construction project and key roles within the UK electricity transmission owner.
He believes a focus on the controls environment and ensuring proportionality is a key enabler for businesses to move forward while mitigating risk.
Graham Hamill
Procurement Manager
Graham has worked within the electronic and heavy engineering industry for the past 20 years, working for FTSE 500 global manufacturing organisations. Gaining excellent product knowledge of pumps, compressors & auxiliary equipment.
Proficient leader who has managed teams of professional staff while managing operational spend up to £50M per annum. A skilled operations and procurement professional with extensive experience in project & change management within ERP implementations and process development.
Ben Lindsay
Project Manager
Ben holds an honours degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Dundee. He has extensive experience working in Quality Engineering across multiple fast paced, high pressure industries. Most recently being responsible for the delivery of key power unit components for the Mercedes Formula One and Formula E teams.
Ben has a demonstrated history of being the lead customer facing technical advisor for multiple projects, both in the UK and internationally. He is an advocate for continuous improvement and actively participates in future business growth and development.
Chris Rae
Logistics Project Manager
Chris has worked with the logistics and warehousing supply chain for 22 years, during that time Chris worked for 8 years within the freight forwarding industry with Nippon Express managing warehouse and freight forwarding functions and then 12 years within logistics and warehouse management, leading the logistics teams at Bray Controls and Howden Compressors.
Chris has vast experience within the logistics and warehousing industry demonstrated across several industries in particular the electrical, electronic and engineering sectors.
Alex Gorrie
Project Manager
Alex has over 15 years’ experience within the Construction, Aerospace and Rail Industry. He has earned his degree in Engineering Management. Having held various positions within engineering and projects departments, Alex has experience working within multiple highly pressured industries, demonstrating his innovation, management, and leadership skills.
Passionate about continuous improvement, including company development and growth, Alex is a skilled communicator previously responsible for strategic planning, technical programmes and business growth including commercial leadership of the engineering and projects departments.
Jake Tulloch
Project Manager
Jake is an engineering professional with experience in both manufacturing and renewable energy industries. He holds a First-Class Honours degree in Mechanical Engineering. He has applied his degree and expertise to roles in continuous improvement engineering within the high standards of a blue chip company and the highly analytical role of a renewable energy analyst, conducting energy yield analysis for a leading engineering and consultant company.
Jake is proficient in Lean Six Sigma Green Belt methodology which he utilises to improve the efficiency of systems and processes, benefiting company development and growth.
Jamie MacGregor
Cable jointing supervisor
Jamie Has worked as a High Voltage cable Jointer for several companies for over 17 years. This has given him extensive knowledge of cable jointing techniques cable manufacture and installation process.
He has worked on offshore HVDC converter stations, windfarms, nuclear power stations, and more recently worked on Vista projects which he jointed cables that replaced pylons in areas of natural beauty.
Renewable energy has been an interest for many years which is why XLCC is of special interest. Jamie is a team player and is excited to pass on his knowledge at the XLCC Training facility and further his experience in the sector.
Conchita Blanco
Executive Assistant
Conchita has over 23 years of experience as an Executive Assistant, working across various organisations and industries, including local authority and management consultancy. She spent over 6 years based in London as the EA for a Global Managing Partner and the International Chairman of a Fortune Global 500 company.
Conchita has successfully managed and delivered multiple large conferences and events and is responsible for organising external events and consultations as well as internal company-wide functions.
